The Strange Life of Ivan Osokin
This little book is truly frightening. It is an incredibly astute observation of the human thought process and our muddled psyche, and I cannot help but be shocked by the conclusions it presents.

I also feel a strong connection with the protagonist - it's like the book was written about me. His desires and his errors are not unlike mine, and in spite of great resistance I feel a strong pull towards the Gurdjieffian system, for all its flaws and weirdness.

I also have the intuition that the way it is described in the book is way the world is.

The book can be downloaded here:

The person who remains fundamentally the same will make the same choices over and over again, regardless of what time they're plopped down in.

In other news, I have a copy of New Model of the Universe that I keep meaning to read, but...

When I was growing up, I used to read Eliot's Four Quartets (it was some shitty mountain town, what else was there to do?). Anyway, there is some ... congeniality between that text and Ouspensky's presentation of Eternal Recurrence. Story goes that Eliot used to attend Ouspensky's London lectures back in the 20's.

and i'm Adding you as well (hope you don't mind!)
